Abstract:

In Wade v. University of Michigan, 2017 WL 3463395 (Mich. App.), the plaintiff challenged a policy that generally prohibited firearms on the University of Michigan campus. We examine the case law supporting a Michigan appellate Court’s ruling that the University’s regulations were valid and did not abrogate the Second Amendment, and why the ruling is likely to be influential in other states whose Boards of Regents are constituted in a fashion similar to Michigan’s, including New York and California.
