Resolution Agreement Between the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights Provides Useful Guidelines for Colleges in Articulating Their Title IX Policies

Abstract:
The Office of Civil Rights (OCR) recently entered into an agreement with Wesley College that resolved a Title IX complaint. The agreement contains some useful language that colleges may want to incorporate into their own policy manuals. Moreover, this was a rare case in which OCR both found that certain male students who were accused of sexual assault were unfairly treated and got the university to agree to remedial action.
