Abstract: 

Phyllis Anderson-Wright, DO, MPH, CCHP, finished the Correctional Medicine Fellowship in March, 2010. Dr. Anderson-Wright is a family physician, originally from New Jersey, who is now with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. She is also the first fellow in a newly designed correctional medicine fellowship. Nova Southeastern University offers a two-year, academically-based correctional fellowship leading to a master’s of public health and recognition by the field. It is based primarily in the Florida prison system, with programs in Florida jails. It involves the entire spectrum of correctional health care, including requirements and opportunities to deliver hands-on care in private, state and federal facilities.
