Abstract:
Our regular review of important court decisions includes two federal appellate cases. In Koon v. North Carolina, 50 F.4th 398 (4th Cir. 2022), the 4th Circuit ruled that a nurse practitioner at a North Carolina state prison was not deliberately indifferent to prisoner’s disability when she denied his request for handicap pass. In Roy v. Ivy, 53 F.4th 1338 (11th Cir. 2022) the court ruled that an inmate’s provision of only one sworn statement and account of a single incident was insufficient to establish that a third-party medical provider had a pattern or practice of delaying treatment. Keywords: Prisoner’s Disability; Delayed Medical Treatment
