Abstract:

It has been reported that occupational exposure was the source of recently acquired latent TB infection (LTBI) in one-third of New York State prison employees. Also, in a TB outbreak in Madrid, Spain, it was determined that the same strain infected five employees, as well as 38 inmates. In this research brief, we review a recent article from PlosONE, “Tuberculosis Among Correctional Facility Workers: A Systematic Review and Metaanalysis” by By Micheli Luize Grenzell and six co-authors associated with Brazilian universities.
