Abstract:
The 2012 Oral Health Access Survey was designed “to assess the barriers that impact female inmates’ access to oral health care prior to incarceration within Georgia’s prisons.” The purpose was to determine oral health care service needs both inside Georgia’s prisons and in the community at large. This research brief summarizes the results of the survey and its main conclusions, “Implications for Improving Oral Health Care among Female Prisoners in Georgia’s Correctional System” by Henrie M. Treadwell, Starla H. Blanks, Carlos C. Mahaffey, and Whitney C. Graves, published in the Journal of Dental Hygiene.Keywords: Routine and Acute Dental Care in Prisons
