Abstract:

The association between tuberculosis and HIV has been widely recognized for decades and the association is particularly striking in prison populations. For example, a fivefold increase in the incidence of TB among New York States prison inmates has been at least partially linked to HIV infection. In this brief research review, we summarize the findings published in “Prisoners Co-Infected with Tuberculosis and HIV: A Systematic Review,” by Chantal L. Edge, Emma J. King, Kate Dolan, and Martin McKee, in the Journal of the International AIDS Society.
