Abstract: 

This article reviews a recent editorial published in American Journal of Public Health, “Perspectives: The Inmate Exception and Reform of Correctional Health Care” by Kevin Fiscella, Leo Beletsky, and Sarah E. Wakeman, which provides a well-reasoned and heartfelt plea for repeal of Medicare and Medicaid provisions that prohibit payment for health care services inside American prisons and jails (the “inmate exception”).
